Advent Reflections

(The house) did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.
(Matthew 7:25)

"An Elderly Priest sheepishly asked me how I was doing in the construction business. Surprise by his seeming confusion, I reminded him that I was a teacher. ‘ I know,’ he said, ‘but I was talking about building your life.’

Jesus makes it clear that we are to build our lives on the foundation of God’s will. He give us the blue-print: Listen to divine words of unconditional love, unending mercy and gentle self-giving, and act upon them with trusting surrender.

This Advent may we courageously put on our hard hats of unwavering faith; prayerfully build our lives on the ‘ eternal Rock’; and, with blessed assurance, watch confidently when the rains fall and the winds blow."

Lord Jesus
Master of both the Light and the darkness, send your holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas
We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day.
We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us.
We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom
We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence.
We are you people, walking in darkness, seeking you way say, ‘ Come, Lord Jesus!’
