The Diocese of Limerick is part of the Cashel province. So it is with joy that we congratulate Bishop Kieran O'Reilly on his installation as the new Archbishop of Cashel & Emily. May God bless the Killaloe Diocese where he first ministered as Bishop; Cashel and Emily Diocese where he takes up this new role and the whole Cashel Province as we journey forward together in faith.

As a new archbishop, we note that there will at least one Irish archbishop to have the pallium bestowed this year although following the changes introduced by Pope Francis two weeks ago, the imposition of the pallium will be done in Cashel by the papal nuncio at a future date. [You can find out more about the changes in the ceremony of the pallium here].

As one of the four Irish archbishops Archbishop Kieran will be one of the trustees of the Pontifical College in Maynooth, one of the trustees for the Irish College in Rome, trustee of Mary Immaculate College in Limerick and St Patrick's College in Thurles. Traditionally the archbishop of Cashel & Emly is also one of the patrons of the GAA following on from Archbishop Thomas Croke who helped in the establishment of the GAA.

You can read more about the installation ceremony from the monks of Glenstal here (an interesting aside while Murroe and Glenstal are in county Limerick, they fall within the diocese of Cashel & Emly).
