In Memoriam

It is with deep sadness that SS102fm has received word of the death of Maurice Leahy, father of Bishop Brendán Leahy of the Diocese of Limerick.

Many people may remember Maurice's attendance at Bishop Brendán's consecration and installation as bishop in St John's Cathedral in April and at the end of the ceremony when he received a spontaneous round of applause from the congregation present for the occasion.

Maurice Leahy, a native of West Kerry who was in his early 90s, passed away peacefully yesterday evening. Mr Leahy spent a year as a teacher in Athea, Co. Limerick in the 1940s and was fondly remembered for the part he played in the championship victory by the local gaelic football team at that time.

De Profundis

Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord; Lord, hear my voice.
Let Your ears be attentive to my voice in supplication.
If You, O Lord, mark iniquities, Lord, who can stand?
But with You is forgiveness, that You may be revered.
I trust in the Lord; my soul trusts in His word.
My soul waits for the Lord more than sentinels wait for the dawn.
More than sentinels wait for the dawn, let Israel wait for the Lord,
For with the Lord is kindness and with Him is plenteous redemption;
And He will redeem Israel from all their iniquities.

Saints of God, come to his aid!
Hasten to meet him, angels of the Lord!
R. Receive his soul and present him to God the Most High.

May Christ, who called you, take you to himself;
may angels lead you to the bosom of Abraham.
R. Receive his soul and present him to God the Most High.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
R. Receive his soul and present him to God the Most High

Requiescat in pace
