Sat 21st May Religious Vocation Day for Women
"The woman who is called to Religious Life, she knows, she knows" (Mother Teresa). We are young women from around Ireland who have been contemplating the decision to enter Religious Life. We realise that there are quite a number of young women in Ireland who are also contemplating this, but who find themselves with very little support and often do not have like minded people to speak with about it. We feel it would be beneficial to meet informally to share our experience. This is not intended to be a day where Religious Communities are represented, but merely a chance for young women to come together to support each other in the decisions which are facing them. We would appreciate the prayers of all, especially all religious communities for the success of this event. We will meet on Saturday the 21st of May from 12pm – 5pm in Cluain Chiaráin, Clonmacnois. Further enquiries / Bookings / Transport – please email: saturday21stmay2011@yahoo.ie.

Sat 11th June - Fri 15th July - L5 - The Art of Team Building
Ever since Vatican II there have been an increasing number of Catholic and ecumenical initiatives geared towards training Catholic young people in evangelization and mobilizing them into missionary service. L5 was created to address the need for more specific leadership formation. L5 - is a practical, hands-on 5-week Leadership training course (hence the title) designed for people like you: Christians who lead evangelization and / or mission teams for lay missions organizations, prayer groups, communities, or discipleship training programs. For further information on course topics, prices and contact information, please click here.

Fri 17th - Sun 19th June - Vocation Weekend
Just a note to let you know about an excellent event taking place from 17-19 June in the seminary in Oscott, near Birmingham: Invocation 2011! The whole weekend is an opportunity for young people (16-35) to come together to think about their vocation, with input focussing on the vocations to priesthood and religious life. Last year was the first time the event was held, and it was more successful than the organisers ever expected - several hundred young people turned up! For a flavour of last year's Invocation, take a look at this video: http://vimeo.com/20784195. All the relevant details about Invocation 2011 are available on the website, www.invocation.org.uk. There will be plenty of prayer as part of the programme, but also some great talks from Archbishop Bernard Longley, Sr Gabriel Davison OSC (a Poor Clare from Arundel who featured on the TV series, The Convent), Fr Christopher Jamison OSB (from the TV series, The Monastery), and our own Dr Andrew O'Connell (Irish Catholic and Presentation Brothers. Dr Gemma Simmonds CJ will be MC throughout the weekend. If you know any young people, in Ireland or Britain, who are discerning a vocation to the religious life, why not encourage them to attend? Or else just spread the word that the event is taking place - it would be wonderful if many young Irish people were to attend, and to begin something similar here...

Sat 24th September - Certificate in Catechesis from Maryvale Institute
As we grow deeper in our faith we find that it is important to achieve a proper balance between prayer and sacred study. The call for us to evangelise and catechise is one of the most repeated exhortations that Pope John Paul II made in his special apostolic letter for the new millenium 'Novo Millennio Inuente" and is key to our mission in Youth 2000. Maryvale Institute are offering a Certificate in Catechesis starting on Saturday 24 September 2011 at 9:30 am in the Edith Stein Room, St Teresa's, Clarendon Street, Dublin. The course is part time distance learning, involving three study days and a retreat day per year over 2 years. If you are interested in deepening your faith so that you can become a more effective evangelist then this course is for you. For further information please contact Eithne at eithne@kteams.org.
